Born in 1948 under the sign of Sagittarius in the quaint and quiet settlement of Kew, North Caicos to parents Mr. Harold Robinson Jnr. and Mrs. Flossie Missick (both deceased); his birth brought much excitement and joy, being the first born.
From his infancy, he seemed destined to become an important individual. He attended the Government Primary All Aged School in Kew, now the Hubert James Primary and Grand Turk Primary. From there he attended the Turks and Caicos High School now the Helena J. Robinson High School.
After his graduation from high school, he was employed by the Turks and Caicos Islands Government in the Lands and Survey Department. Royal was very ambitious and was fortunate to obtain a scholarship to study at the College of Arts, Science and Technology now known as the University of Technology in Jamaica.
On the successful completion of his course, he returned home to continue his employment in the Lands and Survey Department. He moved up the ranks in that department. This afforded him another scholarship, this time to attend Regent University in the UK where he received a Certificate Management and National Development, and from the Caribbean Development Bank, a Certificate in Trade and Investment Incentives.
Due to his hard work, commitment and loyalty he was appointed as the first Turks & Caicos Islander Chief Land Surveyor in February 1978. This appointment can be regarded as perhaps the beginning of his rise to achieve the very top positions in the Civil Service. He held the position of Permanent Secretary in the Offices of the Chief Minister, Minister for Commerce & Development, Minister of Tourism and Minister of Natural Resources). Following his retirement from the Public Service, Royal was appointed Project Manager in 2005, tasked with overseeing the construction of the two new state of the art hospitals for Grand Turk and Providenciales.
Having had such an illustrious career in the Public Service, Royal decided to serve his country in the Political Arena. He became the PNP Candidate for Kew, Whitby and Sandy Point and was their representative during the 2003 General Elections.
In January 2009 he was appointed Minister of Health and Human Services, and in March of the same year became the Deputy Leader of the PNP paving the way to serve as Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance under the Galmo Williams Administration.
Royal has served on numerous government boards: the Turks and Caicos Development Board, the Planning Board, the National Trust and also Vice President of the Provo Chamber of Commerce.
He has used his strong Land Surveying background to make significant contributions to the TCI Construction Industry.
He attends the New Testament Church of God.
Married to the former Aldora Brown of Nassau, Bahamas, Mr. Robinson is the proud father of nine children.
