RTCI Police will be holding a public auction of motor vehicles next Friday (June 29).

The sale takes place at the pound next to the Police Canteen in Airport Road from 10am.

Up for sale are 14 vehicles that were seized by officers after being abandoned by their drivers on the roads of Provo and that have remained unclaimed for more than 12 months.

Sgt Winston Diamond from the RTCI Police Traffic Department explained: “We have made every effort to contact the vehicle owners to ask them to come forward and claim them.

“Unfortunately some still remain unclaimed and we are now putting them up for public auction because we need the space that they are occupying in the pound.

“These vehicles were taken into custody during police traffic operations in which they were abandoned by the drivers. “There are of course many different reasons why the owners have not come forward but we have done everything in our power to locate them.”

The public can view the vehicles from 8am on Friday with all purchases to be made in cash.

Meanwhile RTCI Police have stressed that they will be sold as seen with no guarantees available concerning condition and operating status.

Sgt Diamond added: “It is strictly a cash-only auction and the RTCI Police can accept no responsibility for the condition of the vehicles either on the day or at any time during the future.”

The vehicles that will be put up for auction are: a grey Suzuki Ignus, white Daihatsu Cuore, grey Toyota Corolla, grey Ford Focus, black Mazda, black Ford Focus, green Honda, grey Toyota Windom, two white Toyota Corollas, black Honda Civic, green Honda Civic, green Nissan, blue Honda Civic and a white Daihatsu Terios.

All vehicles will be sold on Friday.
