UK Cosmo: Rihanna Ready for Love; Knows What She Wants
In an interview for the August issue of UK Cosmopolitan, Rihanna opens up about what turns her on, how guys have to “earn it” and more.
And of course, no interview would be complete without the mention of Chris Brown.
With a number of high profile hookups since the Brown beating, from baseball stars to rappers, Rihanna claims she is now “ready for love” and knows what she wants.
“I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing,” she tells Cosmo.
Winning her heart, though, isn’t all chance; when it comes down to it, the singer wants a man who will show that he’s serious.
“But guys should have to earn it. Because the minute they get it, they want something else,” she explains. “Men are like hunters: they like the chase. So you have to keep ‘em guessing. Actually, I’m like that too. I get bored quickly. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.”
Rihanna also talks about her painful relationship with Chris Brown.
“It was a very aggressive and defensive time, and that allowed me to start not giving a sh*t. I walked around with a very f**k-you attitude,” Rihanna says. “I’ve always been good at masking my emotions. For me, it’s tougher to be vulnerable than to be tough.”

Police confirm break-in at old Police station
Police confirm to RTC news that a break-in of their unoccupied building on Airport Road where at least 2 weapons were reportedly stolen was true.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have confirmed reports that their building, previously being used as the main police station on Old Airport Road Providenciales and currently as a storage facility, had been burglarized some time during Wednesday night.
Apparently, burglars managed to force open a door which had been secured upon the closing of the building in early June of 2011. Upon gaining access to the facility, it is believed that the burglar(s) then forcibly gained access to a locked property room and allegedly removed two hand guns. The Police are currently conducting an audit of the secured items ascertain what all were contained in the building. While Police are unable to determine what specific items are missing, they have confirmed that two (2) firearms, namely hand-guns, are among the missing items.
It was a month ago that after long being declared an environment that was un-conducive to work, and the fact that the morale of some of the officers of the force had become extremely low, that the operations of the force was relocated from airport road to its current location in Five Cays and Chalk Sound, but apparently, not everything had been moved out of the building, including some of the all important exhibits and files.
RTC News spoke with Acting Inspector Calvin Chase, RTCIPF Media Relations Officer of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, who revealed that security measures were in place at the facility but not in the form of manpower but cameras in the vicinity that may possibly provide some lead on the culprit(s) involved in the burglary.
We also questioned detective Chase about whether there were important drug exhibits and other files in that building.
Acting Inspector Chase also said that the investigation is continuing as Police canvass the area for possible clues and they are asking anyone with information which may assist in apprehending the person or persons responsible, to contact the police directly or call Crime-Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477)
Chase also took the opportunity on RTC News to appeal to motorists, especially those living in Providenciales, to be ever vigilant and not leave any valuables lying around in their vehicles, as there have been numerous instances of vehicular interference.

Fraudsters solicit the services of Attorneys in an effort to recover alleged outstanding funds from locally based companies in the TCI
Police are trying to nip a criminal activity in the bud where perpetrators are trying to scam unsuspecting persons out of thousands of dollars by using attorneys to help do their dirty work.
The Criminal Investigations Department of The Royal Turks & Caicos Islands Police Force has issued a media release, advising the business community and local Attorneys of a recent Fraud Trend, where Fraudsters are soliciting the services of Attorneys in an effort to recover alleged outstanding funds from locally based companies in the Turks and Caicos Islands for goods obtained on credit.
Police say the scam involves attorneys being approached by Fraudsters who advise the attorney that the client agrees to settle out of court, payment in the form of cheque(s) would be sent to the Attorney to settle the debt and request that the Attorney deduct their fees before forwarding the balance to them. However the cheque(s) are forged.
The cheque(s) are normally hundreds of thousands of dollars and the Fraudsters would sometime request a percentage of the total cheque(s), prior to the forged cheque(s) been cleared.
The business community and local attorneys are being advised to contact the Police at Tel# 9413327, Financial Crime Unit at Tel # 9414450, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or Emergency 911 if they have been confronted with this recent Fraud Trend or any of a similar nature.

Buffett sees risks in US failing to hike debt ceiling
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett said yesterday Congress is playing a dangerous game by considering not raising the US debt ceiling. The CEO and chairman of the conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway Inc said on the cable TV network CNBC that there is no way to tell what might happen if the debt limit is not increased, but it’s a dangerous idea. Buffett compared the debate over raising the debt limit to a game of “Russian roulette” with one bullet in a revolver. He said refusing five times out of six to raise the debt limit might not be dangerous, but the sixth time could have catastrophic consequences. “You’re playing with fire when you don’t need to play with fire,” he said. Buffett was in Sun Valley, Idaho, attending the annual conference hosted by investment banker Allen & Co that attracts Wall Street and media moguls.
Congressional leaders from both political parties are scheduled to visit the White House on Thursday to talk about cutting the deficit, so a deal can be made to raise the debt limit and avoid a first-ever default on US financial commitments. Buffett said Congress raised the debt ceiling seven times during President George W Bush’s administration, so it would be silly not to do so now. If America does run up against its debt ceiling, Buffett said the roughly US$4 billion the government spends each day will be missed. “We don’t need to tell the rest of the world that anytime people in Congress start throwing a tantrum that we’re not going to pay our bills,” Buffett said. Berkshire Hathaway’s top executive said he believes the global economy has continued to improve slowly since the fall of 2009 based on the reports he receives from all of his Omaha-based company’s subsidiaries. “Business has been getting better consistently in nearly every area except construction,” Buffett said.
But Buffett said recent efforts to help Greece avoid default have not solved Europe’s financial problems. He said it’s clear that Europe still has lingering problems because the bonds issued by the 17 countries that use the euro currency offer significantly different yields. “The Greek situation and the European situation is not solved,” Buffett said. “They’ve got real problems in Europe. That doesn’t mean they can’t surmount them.” He said there is a lot of work to do to save the euro because a couple countries are dragging down the rest of Europe. Berkshire owns roughly 80 subsidiaries, including railroad, clothing, furniture and jewelry firms, but its insurance and utility businesses typically account for more than half of the company’s net income. It also has major investments in such companies as Coca-Cola Co and Wells Fargo & Co. (AP)
Facebook adds Skype video chat feature
Facebook is encouraging its members to talk face to face -- over the computer.
The social networking giant introduced a video-calling feature on Wednesday in partnership with Skype, the popular Internet video-chat provider.
The product comes a week after Google launched a competing social network, called Google+, which also includes a video-chatting program.
Facebook's version will show up on the site as a "call" button at the top of users' profile pages. By clicking that or finding someone in a new "buddy list" bar on the right-hand side, Facebook users can talk to each other as long as they have webcams. The company began turning that service on for millions of users on Wednesday and will add it to more accounts over time, spokespeople said.
This is "the world's easiest one-click way" to chat over video, Facebook engineer Philip Su said at the news conference here. The Seattle programmer was Facebook's only full-time engineer working on its development along with Skype, a Facebook spokeswoman said.
Facebook on Wednesday also introduced a change to its instant-messaging service, which now allows people to create on-the-fly group conversations.
"This is their response to Google+ right now," said Ray Valdes, an Internet analyst at Gartner Research. "I think it's a little bit of catchup in terms of features."
Google bills its new network as a better way to communicate certain messages to subsections of friends. Google+ also has drawn praise for its ability, with a service called Hangouts, to let users video chat with several friends at a time.
Facebook's new video feature does not allow for group chats. However, Skype CEO Tony Bates noted that the union with Facebook leaves an opening to add new features later, such as group calling or paid features like calling to landlines.
What Facebook does have, however, is 750 million people actively using its service, said Mark Zuckerberg, the company's CEO. Google+ is nary a week old and only available to people who managed to procure an invite from a member of the media or a tech-savvy friend.
Zuckerberg took subtle jabs Wednesday at the new Google network, saying Facebook provides the best way for people to organize their friends into groups -- with minimal effort.
"If you think about it, it makes it so that your networking community can do the work of organizing your communities for you," Zuckerberg said of Facebook's grouping features. "You don't have to curate."
Most popular Google+ user? It's Facebook's Zuckerberg
He described Google as part of a group of companies, which also includes video-streaming provider Netflix, that haven't traditionally integrated social networking into their software.
Google's do-it-alone approach to social networking -- as opposed to one that integrates with other tech companies -- is poised to fail, Zuckerberg said.
"We're doing this with Skype, and I think that this is kind of symbolic," Zuckerberg said. "Entrepreneurs who focus on a specific type of thing will always do better than a company trying to do a million things."
Skype, the Luxembourg communications firm, is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft, a longtime Facebook partner. The day Microsoft announced its intentions, Skype executives met with Zuckerberg and his team, Bates said. Their talks had been going on long before then, however, and the Skype desktop software already integrates some of Facebook's utilities.
Defending the decision not to offer multi-person video-chat sessions like in Google+, Zuckerberg said: "The vast majority of video chat is one-on-one chat."
"I wouldn't rule anything out," he added. "But I wouldn't undersell the importance of what we're rolling out today."
In their presentation, Facebook engineers and Zuckerberg emphasized the simplicity of placing a video call. However, like with most video-chat services, users will need to install a plugin before they can use it.
Zuckerberg may have ginned up unrealistic expectations for Wednesday's event when he told reporters last week that the company would be announcing "something awesome." Some people following along on news sites' live blogs said they were underwhelmed by the news.
South Korean economy welcomes 2018 Winter Olympics
Pyeongchang’s triumph of the 2018 Winter Olympics is expected to cultivate more than just national pride, paving the way for the South Korean economy to rake in an estimated $27 billion, according to the Korean Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, a state-run think tank.
The win may also reduce the nation’s unemployment rate – which sits at 3.3% as of 2010 – by creating roughly 230,000 jobs up until the 2018 games, KIET found in a study.
Pyeonchang beat out Munich, Germany, and Annecy, France, a small resort town located in the French Alps, for a chance to host the Games in 2018. Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, Pyeonchang had failed in bids for the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.
This will not be the first time South Korea has lit the Olympic Torch on their home soil.
Seoul played host to the 1988 Summer Olympic Games, which saw the tightest security of any Olympics to date amid fears of a possible North Korean attack, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Although the 38th parallel remains highly volatile, the International Olympic Committee said Pyeongchang was a “low-risk” environment for the games.
The 2018 games will also mark the first time a Winter Olympics has been held in an Asian city outside of Japan.
South Korean experts believe that the potential economic benefits of 2018’s games could be twice as large as those of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, and four times larger than the 1988 Seoul Olympics, according to Arirang News, Korea’s global television station.
1 dead, 14 workers injured in Dutch soccer stadium roof collapse
At least one person has died and 14 are injured after part of the roof collapsed at a soccer stadium in the Netherlands Thursday, local officials have said.
Sniffer dogs are being used to search for any others who may be trapped in the wreckage, Moniek Eberhard in the mayor's office for the town of Enschede told CNN.
Those injured are thought to be construction workers. It is not known how many people were working in the area when the collapse occurred, at midday local time.
Two people were seriously injured and have been taken to hospital, while three were treated at the scene, Eberhard said.
The club has grown over recent seasons, and was working to expand the seating at its stadium.
Building work was being carried out on the roof above the stands at the FC Twente soccer club's De Grolsch Veste stadium.
Speaking at a televised news conference, the club's general affairs manager, Jan van Halst, urged fans not to come to the stadium to see the damage as it might hinder the work of emergency responders.
The club, founded in 1965, finished second in the top Dutch league, the Eredivisie, last season, having won it the year before. FC Twente also made its first appearance in the Champions League, a major European tournament, last season.
Enschede is to the east of the Netherlands, near the border with Germany.
Warner rejects Qatar vote claims
Recently resigned FIFA vice-president and Concacaf boss, T&T’s Jack Warner has described as “nonsense” claims by one of his close associates that he voted for Qatar instead of the USA to be hosts of the 2022 World Cup. Warner was, until his resignation last month three weeks after his provisional suspension on corruption charges, president of the CONCACAF confederation made up of countries from North and Central America and the Caribbean, as well as a FIFA vice-president and Caribbean Football Union boss. As CONCACAF president it would have been shocking for Warner to have backed Qatar over the USA, one of the countries in his confederation. But Patrick John, president of the Dominica Football Association and a long-time ally of Warner, claims that he did vote for Qatar - and that the charges against Warner were a result of a conspiracy organised in response by the USA and England.
John told local radio in Dominica: “The whole thing is a conspiracy against Jack Warner. Jack promised the United States to push for the World Cup but when the thing came along at FIFA level Jack supported Qatar. That hurt the United States. “Jack promised the English FA to push for the World Cup for them, but Jack sided with Russia so these two federations are up in arms against Jack, they are the only federations making trouble.” Warner insisted that was not the case, saying in an email: “If Mr John did say so then that is nonsense but I imagine that one day all of this foolishness will come to an end.” Warner and fellow FIFA member Mohamed Bin Hammam were provisionally suspended after being charged with bribery. It was alleged they organised cash gifts totalling one million US dollars to Caribbean officials while Bin Hammam was campaigning for the FIFA presidency. Bin Hammam expressed his hope that he will receive a fair hearing when he appears before FIFA’s ethics committee later this month.
The 62-year-old said he was disappointed by “continuous leaks of confidential information”. He said on his Web site: “I am still looking for and hoping to receive a fair hearing—one which will not be influenced by any political agenda or motivation.” Bin Hammam repeated his earlier claim that “there has been a bias against me”. FIFA’s ethics committee will meet on July 22 and 23 to hear the case against Bin Hammam, who had been the Asian confederation president until his suspension. The investigations by the committee have been completed and their report has been sent to the Qatari. The ethics committee will also hear the cases of Debbie Minguell and Jason Sylvester, the two Caribbean Football Union officials who were also suspended. FIFA dropped the investigation against Warner following his resignation from football-related activities, saying he was no longer under their jurisdiction.
