Obama to Meet with Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday.
Iran is expected to be at the top of the discussion list for the two world leaders. President Obama and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani recently had a 15-minute telephone conversation, ending a nearly 35-year diplomatic freeze.
Prime Minister Netanyahu will warn Obama that Iran's diplomatic "sweet talk" cannot be trusted and will urge the U.S. leader to continue to pressure Tehran to prevent it from making a nuclear bomb.
Obama is expected to be sympathetic about Israel's concerns, but will make clear his determination to test Rouhani's intentions.
Iran has long insisted its nuclear program is peaceful. The U.S. and many of its allies do not accept this, and have helped impose several rounds of sanctions that have battered Iran's economy.
Netanyahu is deeply concerned about eased tensions between Iran and the international community, saying Tehran is using talks to try to lessen the crippling sanctions and to buy more time to build a nuclear weapon.

Great Britain's Sir Bradley Wiggins missed out on a first road world title as Germany's Tony Martin took a third consecutive time trial gold with a commanding ride in Florence.
Wiggins, 33, overhauled Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara in the final third of the 57.9km course to win silver - as he did in the 2011 Championships.
But Martin had built a lead from the start and came in 46.09 seconds ahead.
"I knew it would be close but Tony was on a different level," said Wiggins.
I just aimed to be the quickest from A to B as possible. I had no idea until I finished and collapsed in the tent as to where I was.
"Performance manager Rod Ellingworth was telling me the checkpoints but, with all the noise in the last 20 minutes, I was oblivious to everything, and was just trying to get home.
"It is an honour to be on the podium with those two guys. It will be something to show the grandkids."
After his Giro d'Italia campaign faltered amid crashes and illness and fellow Briton Chris Froome supplanted him as Tour de France champion, Wiggins had hoped to crown a strong finish to the year before his return to track cycling next season.
The 33-year-old completed a commanding victory in the Tour of Britain on Sunday, but ultimately Martin's power and his experience of the Florence course, gained during Omega Pharma-QuickStep's team victory earlier in the event, proved too great to overhaul.
Wiggins had beaten Martin en route to time trial gold at London 2012, but, having recovered from the fractured scaphoid that disrupted his Olympic preparation, the German was always in command of the race.
Martin had a lead of 13 seconds on Cancellara through the first checkpoint at 24.1km and extended that advantage to 28 seconds by 42.3 km.
While Wiggins eventually overhauled Cancellara, Martin remained well out of reach and his jubilant team started celebrating as he entered the home straight.
Martin said: "To win a world championship is always special. To win it a third time in a row is even more special.
"To win it this way - I can't imagine a better race for me. I always knew I was able to win but to know, and to do it, is different."
Three-time British time trial champion Alex Dowsett had beaten Wiggins in the Giro d'Italia time trial, but had been well off the pace in the corresponding Tour of Britain stage last week, and struggled home in 41st.
The rest of the top five was completed by Wiggins' Team Sky colleague Vasili Kiryienka of Belarus and American Taylor Phinney.
British Olympic silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead will attempt to go one better in Saturday's women's road race, before Froome, supported by Wiggins, leads Britain's charge in the men's race on Sunday. Both are live on BBC television and online.
Time trial result:
1. Tony Martin (Ger) 1:05:36.65
2. Bradley Wiggins (GB) at 46 seconds
3. Fabian Cancellara (Swi) at 48"
4. Vasili Kiriyenka (Bel) at 1:26"
5. Taylor Phinney (USA) at 1:08"
Selected others:
13. Nicolas Roche (Ire) at 3:13"
41. Alex Dowsett (GB) at 5:47"
New Puma deal for Bolt
German kitmaker Puma announced yesterday that it was renewing its sponsorship deal with Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man.
The Jamaican, 27, has been with Puma since 2003, and last renewed what is considered to be the biggest sponsorship deal in athletics in 2010.
The new deal will see Puma working with Bolt into the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
"He will play a crucial role in our future product concepts, as well as brand communications leading towards the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and beyond," said Puma Chief Executive Bjoern Gulden.
In addition to its contract with Bolt, Puma has a long-standing commitment to Jamaican track and field.
The deal is a boost for Puma as it continues to take on bigger sportswear rivals adidas and Nike.
"Puma has been with me since the beginning. They recognised my talent at an early age and have supported me throughout, especially in the early years when I have some difficult times due to injury," said Bolt, who has won six Olympic gold and eight World Championships gold medals to date.
"Their work and commitment to Jamaica is always very important to me. I have always been very happy to be part of the Puma family. I am proud to represent them and delighted to continue with them for the years ago," added Bolt, whose time of 9.58 seconds in the 100 metres is the fastest run to date.
Bolt had earlier indicated he may retire after the 2016 Games, but recently said he may compete for a year after that.
There was no mention in the Puma announcement about any retirement plans.
Usain is Jamaica's greatest ambassador, says Gayle
Jamaica and West Indies top batsman Chris Gayle has showered praises on Usain Bolt saying that the sprinter is Jamaica's biggest ambassador on the global stage.
“Words cannot explain what he (Bolt) has done for Jamaica and the world. He has rewritten history,” Gayle said during an interview with Gulfnews.com on Wednesday.
The fastest man on the planet has established himself as legend by becoming the first male sprinter to retain the Olympic 100 and 200-metre gold, achieved in London last year.
Bolt also boasts the highest tally of sprint medals at the World Championships surpassing American Carl Lewis in quality.
“I am really happy for him. I have heard him speaking about how he trains etc, and hope youngsters can take a leaf out of him,” Gayle said.
“I hope he can go on to do bigger things. Everywhere you go, you hear people say Usain Bolt, Usain Bolt now. He has done wonders for Jamaica,” Gayle added.

Bermuda is competing in the final round of the Caribbean Football Union U17 Women’s Regional World Cup Qualifying Tournament, and has been drawn in Group B alongside the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, and Grenada.

Death Toll Rises to 327 in Pakistan Quake
The death toll continues to rise from Tuesday's strong earthquake in southwestern Pakistan.
Officials say at least 327 people were killed after thousands of mud homes collapsed in the mountainous Awaran district of Baluchistan province.
Hundreds of other people have been injured and displaced.
Earlier, talking to VOA, Chief of National Disaster Management Authority Maj. Gen. Saeed Aleem said the government is setting up relief camps in several cities to help those affected by the earthquake.
"We update the information as it comes to us from far flung areas. We would like to give you only the authentic information. Do not believe in hearsay. For the injured, the latest figure is 446. We are trying to set up bases to support these people. Quetta and Karachi will be central bases. Moreover, we are building a big hub in Khuzdar."
Rescue workers are trying to move them to hospitals, but their efforts have been hampered by the widespread destruction. A local official said survivors in the area -- which is near the border with Iran -- are in desperate need of tents, medicine and food.
Members of Pakistan's military have been airlifted to the area to deliver supplies and help with recovery efforts.
The powerful quake, measured by the U.S. Geological Survey at magnitude 7.7, also caused the seabed to rise and create a small island off Pakistan's southern coast.
It was the worst earthquake to hit Pakistan since 2005, when a quake near Kashmir killed at least 73,000 people.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake's epicenter was about 230 kilometers southwest of Dalbandin in Baluchistan. Reports say the quake was felt as far away as New Delhi.

Syria Dominates UN General Assembly
Syria and its chemical weapons continue to dominate the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
Speaker after speaker on the assembly's second day Tuesday condemned the use of poison gas against civilians. They demanded that Syria keep its promise to rid itself of such weapons.
European Council President Herman Van Rompuy spoke for 28 European Union members when he called the chemical weapons attack last month near Damascus an abhorrent crime against humanity. He pleaded with the Security Council to adopt a clear resolution spelling out what Syria must do to eliminate its arsenal.
Van Rompuy also said the EU hopes the expectations brought on by new leadership in Iran will mean concrete steps toward a negotiated solution to that country's nuclear crisis.
Also Tuesday, Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli said his country is anxiously waiting for what he calls "just recognition" from the U.N. for detaining a North Korean ship carrying banned war material. He told the General Assembly that Panama was acting on its wish to comply with U.N. rules and laws.
Panama stopped the North Korean-flagged ship going through the canal in July, after it was suspected of carrying drugs. Inspectors say they found missiles and fighter jet parts hidden under a shipment of raw sugar.
The ship remains in Panamanian custody.
Deadly Violence in Sudan Following Fuel Subsidy Cut
Escalating protests in Sudan against the government's decision to cut fuel subsidies have left at least six people dead in the capital, Khartoum.
The protesters were killed on Wednesday during clashes with security forces. Police fired tear gas at stone-throwing demonstrators who blocked roads and set buildings on fire.
Some protesters called for the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir, who has ruled Sudan since seizing power in 1989.
The protests began on Monday after the government announced it was suspending fuel subsidies in a bid to help the economy. On Sunday, President Bashir said the subsidies had reached a level that was "dangerous" for Sudan's economy.
The suspension caused a sharp rise in fuel prices. The move angered many citizens who took to the streets in protest. At least two people were killed in demonstrations earlier in the week.
Sudan's fuel crisis began after South Sudan became independent in 2011. The new nation took about three-quarters of Sudan's crude oil production.
The United States urged calm on Wednesday. The U.S. embassy in Khartoum called for all sides to avoid further violence and respect civil liberties.
US Senate Begins Votes on Temporary Government Funding
After a marathon speech led by one man that lasted 21 hours and 19 minutes, the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate is holding a series of votes on legislation to fund the U.S. government beyond a fast approaching deadline.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz led efforts by conservative Republicans seeking to end a controversial law that would expand health care coverage to millions of Americans.
He began talking Tuesday in support of a bill passed by the Republican-led House of Representatives last week that would fund the government past October 1, except for the health care program known as Obamacare.
The bill has no chance of being approved by the Senate, forcing a showdown between the two parties that could lead to a government shutdown.
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and other senior lawmakers have refused to support Cruz's approach, paving the way for Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to introduce a bill to temporarily fund the government, including the new health care law, until mid-November.
The bill will likely not be approved until Friday, which would give House lawmakers little time to consider the measure before next Monday's deadline.
Republican leaders fear that a partial shutdown of the federal government would hurt the party's standing heing into next year's congressional elections. A government shutdown in the mid-1990s, when Republicans controlled both houses of Congress, boosted then-President Bill Clinton's re-election chances.
Attorney General’s Chambers welcomes decisions on dolphinarium
Former Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) Governor Ric Todd acted legally and reasonably when he changed a regulation that makes decision-making about a proposed dolphinarium clearer for the TCI Government, as the Attorney General’s Chambers welcomed the decision today, Wednesday, 25 September 2013.
On 17th September the TCI Supreme Court dismissed an application for judicial review brought against the Governor by a local consortium. Their suggestion that the then Governor had acted illegally in changing a regulation under the Fisheries Protection Ordinance was rejected. The Judge remarked that Todd’s actions had actually helped improve the law, which she regarded as vague.
The Court found that the Governor acted reasonably in the exercise of his discretion by making the amending regulation. This decision is further vindicated by the fact that the current TCI Government is supportive of building a dolphinarium in the Islands.
It was also made clear that the Governor's evidence showed extensive consultation within TCI Government and the reason for making the change when he did was based on improving the economy and also to ensure the Dolphin proposal would remain open for proper political and public consideration: any decision would be subject to the full extent of the TCI planning process.
Importantly too, in court attorney Peter McKnight withdrew his and his clients’ assertions that the Governor acted in any way improperly, making very clear that these claims were retracted by them.
A group of local organizations represented by Chuck Hesse (as Applicant), where the Turks and Caicos Society for the Prevention Cruelty to Animals Ltd., Pride Ltd, Turks and Caicos Reef Fund and the Providenciales Chamber of Commerce who brought this action.
The Court will provide the written reasons for the announced decision once the written reasons are delivered to the Parties.
