Harry Styles on Taylor Swift Split
Harry Styles finally opened up about his breakup with Taylor Swift and about her Grammy diss. Styles appeared on a radio interview, London's Capital FM, on Sunday, February 17 to talk about it for the first time after their relationship ended in early January 2013.
"I understand why people would want to know stuff like that, I get it. If someone does stuff like that then I want to know about it, too," Styles assured fans that it's okay if they wanted to know about his private life. "I guess it just kind of... It is what it is, I guess."
"She's a great performer and she always performs great," Styles said about Swift's diss during her performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards last February 10. "She's always good on the stage. She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good."
Styles said that he was not worried to run into his ex-girlfriend at the 2013 BRIT Awards next February 20. "I'm not worried about seeing her at all," he told Grazia. "She's a sweet girl, you know, I don't have a bad word to say about her."
Taylor is nominated for a BRIT award for best international female solo artist, while One Direction is nominated for best British group. Both Swift and One Direction will perform on the night. Styles said that he and his bandmates were excited to perform at the O2 Arena.
"I can't wait for the BRITs, we're going to be performing our Comic Relief single, so it's amazing to have such a big platform for that," he added.
Prince Jackson Secures a Job on Entertainment Tonight
Sixteen year old Prince Jackson, superstar Michael Jackson's eldest child, was recently hired as Entertainment Tonight new correspondent. His first job was interviewing "Oz: the Great and Powerful" cast, James Franco and Zac Braff, and director Sam Raimi.
Brooke Anderson from Entertainment Tonight mentored Prince Jackson to prepare his interview with the movie cast. In regards to the boy's performance, Anderson praised Jackson on Twitter, saying that he was "impressive."
At one point, Anderson told Jackson that he seemed much wiser than people at his age. The boy replied that it was because of his father. "That's what most of my people say. That was all thanks to my dad. He raised me right," said Jackson.
Jackson hoped that he could conduct an interview with Peter Jackson because he loved the director's work. The new correspondent explained, "I love his movies. 'Lord of the Rings, 'The Hobbit' and 'King Kong'. I just love the way he shoots [and how] he brings things and depicts it back to life. I used to study his movies with my dad, put the volume off and just watch it, just the shots to see how he put it together."
Jackson revealed his dream, "I'm looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor." James Franco advised him on having successful career in Hollywood, "I always tell people, just go out and try, and stop waiting around or dreaming it's going to happen. Just go and start doing things on your own."
Kim Kardashian Dislikes Her Pregnant Body
One thing that Kim Kardashian hates about her pregnancy is her expanding body. She is reportedly having trouble adjusting to her pregnant body as she gains more weight and allegedly misses wearing her little dresses.
"She's miserable that she can't get into her little dresses anymore," a source told British magazine Star. "She can't wait to be a mommy, but she hates that she can only wear leggings and loose tops. She also misses her regular workouts and it's getting her down."
A report says that Kim has already grown four cup sizes during her pregnancy, from a 36D to a 36G, and she wears sports bra daily. "Kim loves her curves," another source told British magazine Heat. "But she's upset that nothing in her wardrobe fits her any more,"
Kim has been spotted going to the gym more than ever over the past couple of weeks. The 32-year-old steps up her visits to five or six times a week and now includes extra cardio and pilates in her thorough workouts. "It feels like a losing battle to Kim, though, as she is going to gain additional weight no matter what. Some people can stay thin when pregnant, but her body type seems predisposed to get bigger," the source added.
Kim's boyfriend, Kanye West, said that he has no problem with Kim's expanding body. "He encourages her to eat whatever she wants. He tells her not to worry, and it makes her feel better," an insider said.
Oscar Pistorius charged with premeditated murder
Oscar Pistorius told a packed courtroom Tuesday that he shot his girlfriend to death by mistake, thinking she was a robber. The prosecutor called it premeditated murder.
The double amputee said in an affidavit read by his lawyer at his bail hearing that he felt vulnerable because he did not have on his prosthetic legs when he pumped bullets into the locked bathroom door. Then, Pistorius said in the sworn statement, he realized that model Reeva Steenkamp was not in his bed.
"It filled me with horror and fear," he said.
He put on his prosthetic legs, tried to kick down the door, then bashed it in with a cricket bat to find Steenkamp, 29, shot inside. He said he ran downstairs with her, but "She died in my arms."
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel on Tuesday charged the 26-year-old athlete and Olympian with premeditated murder, alleging he took the time to put on his legs and walk some seven meters (yards) from the bed to the bathroom door before opening fire. A conviction of premeditated murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in jail.
The Valentine's Day shooting death has shocked South Africans and many around the world who idolized Pistorius for overcoming adversity to become a sports champion, competing in the London Olympics last year in track besides being a Paralympian. Steenkamp was a model and law graduate who made her debut on a South African reality TV program that was broadcast on Saturday, two days after her death.
Bolt thrills in All-Star game
Jamaica's multiple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt pulled off a two-handed dunk and became the biggest track-and-field star to play basketball in prime time at the weekend.
Bolt rubbed shoulders with a list of celebrities and was a star attraction during 29 minutes on court in a celebrity basketball match, a precursor to the NBA All-Star game.
Bolt hit one of five shots missed both of his free throws and totalled just two points in his time on court as his East Team was thrashed 58-38 by the Western Team.
Snagging a high pass with his right hand nearing the end of the first quarter, the 6' 5" sprinter controlled the ball and then rose up for a two-handed slam but denied taking more than two steps to complete the shot.
"I got a little bit of skills. For me it was good and I want to dunk some more," he told a television reporter on court.
"Look at my strides. I took like two steps. That's it. Just two."
The Jamaican sprinter played alongside the likes of comedian Kevin Hart, singer Ne-Yo, rapper Common, actor Nick Cannon, and former NBA great Dikembe Mutombo.
Bolt opened his 2013 season with a rare run at 400 metres and has talked about expanding his programme for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Female trio Brick & Lace disbands
It started as a trio, then morphed to a duo. Now, sister-group Brick & Lace, comprising Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne, are again in transition.
Nyanda Thorbourne is stepping away to pursue a solo career.
"I am both terrified and excited at the same time," she told the Jamaica Observer from her Florida base.
"After being one half of a group for so long, the time has come for me to find myself as a whole... to stand on my own two feet, and I am feeling the pressure. I try not to think about it too much so I am just concentrating on the music," Thorbourne said.
She spoke candidly about tensions which arose from creative differences and the vision each sister had for the group. But Thorbourne was quick to point out she is not averse to a reunion.
"It was just time. There was always a lot of tension and a wanting to explore and do different things. So we both felt this was something we needed to do at this time," she said.
"There was always the feeling that we had to compromise. If I wanted more of a dancehall feel for a song and she wanted more R&B; if a video should look this way and even on a photo shoot, who preferred which shot and angle," she said.
She stated that their competitive nature may have gotten in the way.
"Sibling rivalry may have become part of it, but the love is still there. I really just wanted to spread my wings, just wanted to fly and couldn't help but feel like there was a brick on my foot holding me down," Thorbourne said.
This led to her to just "breeze out, do me and whatever makes me happy."
'Doing me' includes a cover of Taylor Swift's Trouble, produced by The Chemist of the Black Lion Music Group. She said the song debuted at number 38 on the UK's Music Week Urban chart.
"I am working on more stuff right now including collaborations with deejays Bling Dawg and Assassin (Agent Sasco) as well as tracks produced by The Wizzard. I can't wait to get back to Jamaica and do some stuff. Jamaica gives me the edge I need."
Formed over a decade ago, Brick & Lace initially consisted of Nyanda, Nailah and Tasha Thorbourne. Tasha left the group, but continued as a co-writer.
The sisters recorded an album — Love Is Wicked — for American hip-hop artiste/songwriter Akon on his Kon Live Distribution label in 2007

Longtime Lakers owner Jerry Buss dies at 80
Jerry Buss built a glittering life at the intersection of sports and Hollywood.
After growing up in poverty in Wyoming, he earned success in academia, aerospace and real estate before discovering his favorite vocation when he bought the Los Angeles Lakers in 1979. While Buss wrote the checks and fostered partnerships with two generations of basketball greats, the Lakers won 10 NBA titles and became a glamorous worldwide brand.
With a scientist's analytical skills, a playboy's flair, a businessman's money-making savvy and a die-hard hoops fan's heart, Buss fashioned the Lakers into a remarkable sports entity. They became a nightly happening, often defined by just one word coined by Buss: Showtime.
"His impact is felt worldwide,'' said Kobe Bryant, who has spent nearly half his life working for Buss.
Buss, who shepherded his NBA team from the Showtime dynasty of the 1980s to the current Bryant era while becoming one of the most important and successful owners in pro sports, died Monday. He was 80.
"Think about the impact that he's had on the game and the decisions he's made, and the brand of basketball he brought here with Showtime and the impact that had on the sport as a whole,'' Bryant said a few days ago. "Those vibrations were felt to a kid all the way in Italy who was 6 years old, before basketball was even global.''
[NBA world reacts to Buss' death]
Under Buss' leadership, the Lakers became Southern California's most beloved sports franchise and a worldwide extension of Los Angeles glamour. Buss acquired, nurtured and befriended a staggering array of talented players and basketball minds during his Hall of Fame tenure, from Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard.
Few owners in sports history can approach Buss' accomplishments with the Lakers, who made the NBA finals 16 times during his nearly 34 years in charge, winning 10 titles between 1980 and 2010. Whatever the Lakers did under Buss' watch, they did it big - with marquee players, eye-popping style and a relentless pursuit of success.
"His incredible commitment and desire to build a championship-caliber team that could sustain success over a long period of time has been unmatched,'' said Jerry West, Buss' longtime general manager and now a consultant with the Golden State Warriors. "With all of his achievements, Jerry was without a doubt one of the most humble men I've ever been around. His vision was second to none; he wanted an NBA franchise brand that represented the very best and went to every extreme to accomplish his goals.''
Buss died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said Bob Steiner, his assistant and longtime friend. Buss had been hospitalized for most of the past 18 months while undergoing cancer treatment, but the immediate cause of death was kidney failure, Steiner said.
"Anybody associated with the NBA since 1980 benefited greatly from Jerry Buss' impact on the game,'' Steiner said. "He had a different way of looking at things than I did, and people who had been raised in basketball.''
With his condition worsening in recent months, several prominent former Lakers visited Buss to say goodbye. Buss' list of basketball friends is long and stellar, with Johnson citing him as a role model and nearly all former Lakers considering him a friend.
"He was a great man and an incredible friend,'' Johnson tweeted.
Buss always referred to the Lakers as his extended family, and his players rewarded his fanlike excitement with devotion, friendship and two hands full of championship rings. Working with front-office executives West, Bill Sharman and Mitch Kupchak, Buss spent lavishly to win his titles despite lacking a huge personal fortune, often running the NBA's highest payroll while also paying high-profile coaches Pat Riley and Phil Jackson.
With 1,786 victories, the Lakers easily are the NBA's winningest franchise since he bought the club, which is now run largely by Jim Buss and Jeanie Buss, two of his six children.
First Hip Replacement in TCI
Supporters of Medical Tourism as a potential revenue earner for the TCI are celebrating the first total hip replacement operations, using ground-breaking technology, at the Cheshire Hall Medical Facility last week. The operation was performed by a team of experts flown in from the USA on five overseas patients. While here for five days, the team also performed seven knee replacement operations on local TCI patients.
Medical Tourism is an untapped Market for most countries in the region, but for the Turks & Caicos Islands it has started to become a reality - with the TCI adding another first to its list. The first total hip replacement, using new technology, was performed here last week – and some might argue it was another milestone towards turning medical tourism into a profitable reality. This is something that is known to be dear to the heart of Premier the Honorable Doctor Rufus Ewing. What’s going on in the background is that Inter-Health Canada is working closely with a global healthcare and health services brokerage firm called Global MedChoices. Their team of surgeons and staff from Chicago stayed here for five days. It was led by Dr. James MacKenzie from Calgary who performed the first of the five hip replacements on people from overseas. The GMC team went on to perform a further 7 knee replacements for local TCI patients. Several local medical technicians made up the surgical team. The triumph of this landmark project for Inter-Health Canada was heightened because ground-breaking BHR Re-surfacing hip technology was used for the first time in the West Indies region. This technology tends to be used on patients who are young and active. The hip joint is like a ball and socket, and instead of removing the femoral head, as in traditional hip replacements, the ball is "shaved" with a series of bone cuts and capped with a metal implant. Richard Boddington, the chief operating officer with GMC said his surgeons had marveled at the state of the art facilities at Cheshire Hall. It’s hoped a pattern will now emerge where medical teams can be flown in and out from the USA for operations – while the patient remains here for post-operative treatment at Cheshire Hall staying when necessary at local resorts. Since June of last year nine residents have received total knee replacements.
