During routine inspections which were being conducted by the Crown Land Unit on November 9, 2021, an unoccupied wooden structure was found to be illegally constructed on Crown land located in Five Cays, Providenciales. In accordance with Section 18 of the Crown Land Ordinance, enforcement action was taken to have the structure demolished. 
 
The public is being reminded that the unauthorized development of Crown Land is a crime that is punishable by law and persons engaging in such activities are liable to imprisonment. Further, pursuant to section 22(3)(b) of the Crown Land Ordinance, failure to comply with a notice issued for the removal of structures unlawfully erected on Crown land; may result in the structures being removed or demolished. All goods, chattels or other materials found on the land may also be seized on behalf of the Government and disposed of according to law. 
 
The Department also calls on the support of the public to assist them in their efforts to stymie illegal development by reporting any suspected illegal construction that is being undertaken on Crown land.
