The future of healthcare in the Turks and Caicos Islands has once again come under scrutiny as the contract with InterHealth Canada approaches its end.

During her Throne Speech in Parliament, Her Excellency the Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam said a joint transition committee has been established between the government and InterHealth Canada to ensure hospital services continue without interruption. Edwin Astwood says the public and healthcare workers are being left in the dark about what happens next, including the future of hospital staff and how much money is owed to InterHealth Canada.

With these statements Honourable Akierra Missick sought to provide clarity on the government’s handling of the healthcare system.
