The Office of the Deputy Governor has announced the appointment of Samajeo Williams as Director of the National Public Health Laboratory within the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Williams returns to the position after previously serving as director from February 2021 to June 2023, when he helped lead national laboratory services through the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his previous tenure, Williams expanded local molecular diagnostic testing capabilities and helped strengthen public health laboratory infrastructure across the Turks and Caicos Islands. He also served as a certified trainer for the TCI Government from 2022 to 2023 and held an IATA Infectious Substances Transport Trainer Certification.
Williams holds degrees in Biology and Psychology from Newcastle University…He is also an accredited Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology.
He recently completed a Master of Science in Clinical Science (Infection Sciences) at Queen Mary University of London, graduating with Distinction in 2026.
Williams also completed specialist training in Clinical Microbiology with the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom from 2023 to 2026.
The Office of the Deputy Governor congratulated Williams on his appointment and welcomed his return to public service in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
