Machel Montano looks set to win the Road March title for the third consecutive year with “Waiting on the Stage”. If Montano wins today, as the choice of music used to cross the Adam Smith Square stage in Woodbrook suggests, this would be the first time the soca superstar has been able to win the Road March in three consecutive years. Montano has already copped seven Road March victories.
In the years 2006 and 2007, with “Band of the Year” with Patrice Roberts and “Jumbie” and then later in 2011 and 2012 with “Advantage” and “Pump your Flag”, Montano was able to claim back-to-back Road March wins. However, he has not as yet been able to complete a Road March hat-trick.
It now seems like the third time will be the charm for Montano.
