The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) brought together government agencies, emergency responders, utility companies, and community organizations for its Hurricane Preparedness Expo in Grand Turk. The event aimed to educate residents on how to prepare before, during, and after a hurricane, while providing valuable information on disaster response, recovery, and community resilience. Throughout the expo, attendees had the opportunity to engage with various departments and organizations, ask questions, and learn practical steps to help keep their families and communities safe during the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

RTC spoke to many of the participants on their role during disasters or emergencies.

Officials continue to encourage residents to stay informed by monitoring weather updates from official sources, developing family emergency plans, and assembling hurricane preparedness kits well before a storm threatens the islands. As the hurricane season progresses, residents are urged to remain vigilant, follow guidance from emergency authorities, and take proactive steps to protect themselves, their families, and their property.
