The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 on Thursday, September 10th.
The matchup served as the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game played in Melbourne, Australia, hosted at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of 100,021 fans.
The Rams initially took a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter following a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Kyren Williams. However, the 49ers answered back and completely dominated the rest of the game, scoring 24 unanswered points.
A major turning point occurred in the third quarter when the 49ers’ defense executed a vital goal-line stand, stopping Matthew Stafford on a fourth-down quarterback mere inches from the goal line. San Francisco immediately responded with a staggering 11-play, 99-yard drive to break the game open.
