Police Commissioner Colin Farquhar said Feb. 8 that he has closed the file on assault allegations against the attorney general by a staff member in November.

Attorney General Huw Shepheard had been accused of assault by one of his senior staff prosecutors on Nov. 30.

The staff member also is being investigated “as normal and proper under the civil service investigation procedure,” the governor has said. The status of that investigation was not revealed.

An independent counsel outside the AG’s office reviewed the police report on the incident.

The AG’s office normally is consulted on police investigations but could not in this case to ensure impartiality, the governor has said.
