Khadijah “Bunny” Shaw has once again been crowned the standout player in English women’s football after the Jamaican international claimed the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Women’s Player of the Year award.
The Manchester City striker’s latest honor places her in an exclusive club.
Shaw is now just the third player in the award’s history to win the PFA Women’s Player of the Year prize more than once, joining England internationals Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby.
Shaw’s latest recognition follows another extraordinary season in the Women’s Super League, where she continued to set new standards in front of goal.
The 29-year-old Jamaican scored 21 goals in 22 league appearances, playing a key role in Manchester City’s second Women’s Super League title triumph. She also claimed the Golden Boot for a third consecutive season, becoming the first player in league history to achieve that feat.
With three Golden Boots now to her name, Shaw has moved ahead of two-time winners Vivianne Miedema and Sam Kerr and firmly established herself among the Women’s Super League’s most prolific goalscorers.
But her campaign was about more than simply piling up numbers. Time and time again, Shaw produced when Manchester City needed her most.
Among the highlights of Shaw’s remarkable season was a four-goal explosion against Aston Villa.
She also found the net three times against Tottenham before scoring twice against West Ham on the final day of the league campaign.
That brace helped Shaw reach another historic milestone.
She became the first player to score 20 or more goals in three different WSL seasons, further highlighting the remarkable consistency that has defined her career.
Rather than being the product of a single outstanding year, Shaw’s scoring record reflects a sustained level of excellence that has made her one of the most feared forwards in English women’s football.
Shaw’s influence was not limited to the league.
She added five more goals in cup competitions, including the opener in the FA Cup final as Manchester City secured the trophy.
Her contributions helped City complete a memorable campaign with both the WSL title and FA Cup in their trophy cabinet.
By becoming only the third multiple-time winner of the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award, while also holding the record for three WSL Golden Boots, Shaw continues to strengthen her status among the competition’s all-time greats.
