Federal prosecutors have unsealed an indictment charging Omar Morales-Negron, also known as “O,” with conspiracy to distribute, as well as two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Morales-Negron was arrested in Florida on July 14, 2026, and is expected to be arraigned at a later date in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
According to prosecutors, Morales-Negron led a sophisticated drug trafficking organization that smuggled thousands of kilograms of cocaine from Puerto Rico to Long Island using elaborate shipping methods.
Investigators say the organization concealed cocaine inside furniture shipped by ocean freight and disguised additional shipments as electronics parts sent through the United Parcel Service (UPS).
Authorities allege the operation distributed more than $100 million worth of cocaine on Long Island, highlighting the scale of the trafficking network.
From 2019 through present, Morales-Negron allegedly coordinated large-scale cocaine shipments from Puerto Rico to New York. Furniture loaded with concealed narcotics was transported by cargo ship to the mainland, where members of the organization retrieved the shipments and delivered them to warehouses across New York for distribution.
Prosecutors also allege the organization used UPS to ship cocaine labeled as electronics parts from a fictitious company in Puerto Rico to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Once the shipments arrived, members of the organization allegedly picked them up for distribution throughout the United States.
Law enforcement has intercepted multiple shipments tied to the organization, including:
* Jan. 29, 2026: Authorities seized 312 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately $20 million, after the shipment arrived at JFK Airport from Puerto Rico. Investigators say a member of the organization collected the cargo in a U-Haul truck before detectives observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction in a Plainview hotel parking lot, where they discovered suitcases filled with kilograms of cocaine.
* July 3, 2026: Authorities seized an additional 153 kilograms of cocaine, valued at roughly $10 million, from a shipping container in Queens.
Combined, the two seizures totaled more than 465 kilograms of cocaine, underscoring what prosecutors describe as one of the region’s largest drug trafficking operations.
