The Ministry of Education, Labour, Employment and Customer Services is pleased to announce the number of local awards available to applicants. The Education Advisory Committee met during end of August early September 2021 to review all local applications received.
As of August 27th 2021 the Caribbean Examination Council in Barbados informed the Ministry of Education of the delayed release of CXC results. Therefore, this year the Education Advisory Board has issue preapproved scholarships to all applicants that graduated from high schools with pending CXC results, with their matriculation into the next semester and securing the scholarship being dependent on either acquiring the 5 subjects necessary for the scholarship as mandated by the policy or having attained a GPA of at least 2.5 for the first semester of College. Sixty-One (61) local awardees were successful. In total, the Educational Advisory Committee considered sixty-seven (67) local applications.
Honourable Rachel Taylor, Minister of Education, Labour, Employment and Customer Services states,“Congratulations to all recipients who were successful in obtaining a scholarship for local studies. Our Government values Education and is investing in it. I encourage all awardees to remain focus, do your best, stay committed and you will reap your reward. As Minister with responsibilities for Education, my team and I will work towards a complete review of the Scholarship Policy in an effort to ensure that we capture the current skills that are required for the development of the Turks and Caicos Islands.” Hon. Taylor further extends a profound thank you to all the members of the Education Advisory Committee for their dedication to complete this year’s review of applications, and subsequent list of awardees.
The Ministry urges applicants who may not have been successful to re-apply to the Secretariat for possible consideration in the future.
Award letters will be submitted on September 10th, 2021. Please note letters will be emailed to ALL scholarship applicants, including scholarship awardees and those that were not successful this year.
