The People’s Democratic Movement wishes to extend its very best wishes and heartiest congratulations to our son of soil, Delano Williams who yesterday medaled at the IAAF World Championship Games in Beijing China.
Williams who ran for Great Britain in the 4 x 4 Relay captured the bronze medal. We take note also as to how well Williams did in his leg of the relay: the second leg and we say kudos to former World Champion Boy and our pride and joy.
Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition, Hon Sharlene Cartwright Robinson says “We believe that Williams is a role model to all youth and adults alike. Though he originates from a small Island nation, he continues to shine on the world stage and his success becomes our success. We too like Williams can present our country in a positive light on a world stage. Secondly, we are confident that he is succeeding as he is because he not only possess a healthy body but because he also possesses the right attitude to working hard, making sacrifices and remaining committed to the brightest future possible. His achievements as result of hard work ought to inspire us to do more in the way of achieving great success and excellence in our field of choice remembering that our individual success translates and can translate to our country’s success.
We are so very proud of Delano Williams and we will continue to support him in our prayers, through encouragement and in whatever way that presents itself.
We maintain that sports is a positive avenue for our youth for a myriad of reasons and we will continue to advocate and agitate for more resources and more attention.”
