It appears that Trey Songz may be off the hook after being arrested in March on felony domestic assault charges.
Page Six reports that the Los Angeles District Attorney rejected the “Playboy” singer’s case Monday. The rejection followed a TMZ report claiming that Trey’s attorney Shawn Holley presented a number of witness statements to the LAPD that didn’t correspond with alleged victim Andrea Buera’s claims against Trey.
As previously reported, Buera claimed during a press conference in March that Trey Songz, born Tremaine Neverson, yelled at her, choked her, punched her and knocked her to the ground at an after-party in Los Angeles during NBA All-Star Weekend on February 18.
Trey denied Buera’s allegations on Twitter, stating that he was “being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.”
Page Six adds that Trey’s case will now be given to the Los Angeles City Attorney, who will decide whether or not to charge the singer with a lesser charge of “misdemeanor domestic violence.”
