A number of educators are moving up the ranks within the education system, as authorities recognize their experience, leadership and contribution to the development of students and schools.
Charvis Ferguson has been promoted to Vice Principal of A. Louise Garland Thomas High School, where she began as a founding teacher when the school opened in 2015.
The Office of the Deputy Governor announced the promotion, saying Ferguson will oversee the school’s daily operations, supervise staff and students, manage finances and inventory and help ensure high standards of instruction and discipline across the student body.
Ferguson has more than a decade of experience in education and joined A. Louise Garland Thomas High School in 2015 as a founding English Language and Literature teacher.
Since then, she has held several leadership positions at the school, including Head of Modern Languages and Humanities in 2018, Year Dean in 2025 and, most recently, Dean of Discipline in 2026.
Ferguson also served as Program Manager at the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre in 2021, where she created developmental programmes for young people. In recognition of her commitment to youth development, she was named a 2026 Youth Ally recipient.
Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Language and Linguistics and History from the University of Kent and a Postgraduate Diploma in English Education from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education at Liverpool John Moores University.

Dorianna Forbes has been appointed Principal of Charles Hubert James Primary School, succeeding Comonseta Campbell, who retired after more than 30 years of service to education in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Office of the Deputy Governor announced Forbes’ appointment to the senior position within the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Library Services.
Forbes previously served as a Graduate Teacher at Adelaide Oemler Primary School in North Caicos, where she taught Grades 1, 2, 5 and 6. She also prepared students for the National CPEA examinations and used data-driven instruction to improve student achievement.
Forbes holds a Master of Arts in Education Studies with Merit from Roehampton University in London, United Kingdom, where her studies focused on Educational Leadership, Behaviour and Inclusion, Special Educational Needs and Policy.
She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Second Class Honours Upper Division, from Roehampton University and an Associate of Arts in Primary Education from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College, where she was named to the Dean’s List.
Forbes has also undertaken extensive specialised professional development, including the TCICC Differentiated Instruction Course Pilot and training in Transformational Leadership, Student Behaviour, Curriculum and Instruction at the ASCD Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.
She also holds certifications in Safeguarding Children, Inclusive Teaching Strategies, Restorative Practices in Education and the SPIRE Reading Program.
