On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 49-year-old airline flight attendant Troy Ingleton was officially charged after authorities discovered 3.4 kilograms (7.5 pounds) of cocaine in his luggage at Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA). The seized narcotics carry an estimated street value of J$2.9 million or over $18,000 USD.
Around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, Ingleton—a dual citizen of Jamaica and the United States—was undergoing routine security screening before intending to board a JetBlue Airways flight bound for New York.
Security personnel flagged anomalies in his bags, leading detectives from the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) to uncover a pouch containing two rectangular packages of cocaine.
A follow-up operation at his Kingston residence later that afternoon yielded a licensed 9mm pistol and over 120 rounds of ammunition.
Ingleton faces multiple offenses, including possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
He is scheduled to make his first appearance regarding these charges before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Just hours after Ingleton’s arrest, NMIA security intercepted another traveler attempting to board a flight to Canada. Authorities discovered 5.6 kilograms of cocaine (valued at roughly J$4.78 million) in that passenger’s luggage.
