At just 13 years old, Jamaican-Canadian singer, actress, and philanthropist Jazmin Headley is proving that age is no barrier to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The young humanitarian is preparing to travel to Kingston, Jamaica, in November, where she will donate three much-needed wheelchairs to individuals facing significant mobility challenges.
The initiative, organized through her charitable organization, the Jazz Me Foundation, reflects Headley’s growing commitment to helping vulnerable individuals regain their independence, dignity, and freedom of movement.
What makes this mission particularly special is that Headley connected with the three beneficiaries online, learning about their personal struggles and their urgent need for mobility assistance.
Among the recipients is Kevin Robinson, a paraplegic author from Clarendon whose life changed dramatically after he was shot in 1998, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Robinson is set to receive a customized electric wheelchair valued at approximately JA$1.4 million, a gift expected to significantly improve his mobility and independence.
Also benefiting from the initiative is Jeffery “Andrew” Hutchinson, a construction worker from Black River who urgently needs a wheelchair to assist with his daily activities.
The third recipient is six-year-old Odajah Zaniah Bryian, who was born with spina bifida, a condition that affects the development of the spine and can cause lifelong mobility challenges.
Guided by her personal motto, “Special abilities that need mobility,” Headley hopes to do more than provide wheelchairs. Her mission is to restore hope, create opportunities, and remind people living with disabilities that they have not been forgotten.
Despite her young age, Headley is no stranger to charitable work in Jamaica. Her previous philanthropic efforts include donating thousands of dollars toward improving daycare facilities for staff members.
Her upcoming wheelchair donation initiative is another example of how one young person’s compassion can make a lasting difference.
For Headley, giving back is not simply about charity. It is about changing lives, restoring independence, and ensuring that those facing physical challenges have the opportunity to move forward with dignity and hope.
