FIFA says it has appointed Caribbean official Horace Burrell to its committee that organises Olympic football tournaments, three weeks after he completed a suspension for unethical behavior.
Burrell had lost his long-standing position on FIFA’s disciplinary panel in December while he served a three-month ban following a widespread investigation into alleged bribery by FIFA presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam and vice-president Jack Warner.
Burrell had a further three-month sanction deferred for a two-year probationary period.
The Jamaican football federation president has told Caribbean media that FIFA punished him for not cooperating with investigators.
Burrell is also vice-president of the Jamaican Olympic Association.
