A popular DJ was shot dead and a close friend seriously wounded during an exchange of gunfire with a group of men in Diego Martin on Friday night.

Police reports revealed that at about 6.30 pm Chester Gordon, 32, a DJ with Players International who is popularly known as “Chopper” was at Green Hill Village, Diego Martin when he and a friend had a confrontation with a group of men.

Gordon reportedly fired at the men who returned fire.

The gunmen then fled the scene leaving a bleeding Gordon and his friend on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two were rushed to the Cocorite Community Hospital where Gordon died at about 7.30 pm, while the other man who is yet to be identified, suffered severe injuries and was warded up to late yesterday. Gordon, the father of five, was well known at popular clubs throughout the country, but was also known to the police.

The gun used by Gordon in the shooting on Friday night was seized by police who determined that the weapon was an illegal firearm.

Yesterday at the Green Hill Village, Diego Martin home of the DJ, relatives refused to be interviewed claiming that they were too distraught to say anything at this time.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.

This killing pushed the murder toll to 50 for the year.
